Gavinisms

Earlier I was in the kitchen doing something and I didn't see or hear Gavin in the living room. He's not supposed to be messing with the computer after the writing on the screen incident. So I looked down the hall way and said "Gavin, where are you?" I see him run really fast from the computer room into his room and said "i'm in my room stace!" I went in there, looked at him, and said, really? He said, well I was in the computer room, but I wasn't touching the computer! I was totally giggling to myself when I saw him room from room to room really fast! LOL!!

Gavin wanted to type his mom a note.  I let him do it in my FB status.  It goes like this...

Lazy Weekend at Home

Our lazy weekend at home!

Gavin stayed with us last weekend.  We didn't really have anything planned to do other than church, which is definitely unusual for me when I get Gavin.  But I thought it would be fun to just have a lazy Saturday at home.  I had things in mind for us to do around the house.....play the Wii, work on our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, bake cupcakes and deviled eggs for church on Sunday, and just relax at home hanging out.

Friday night after I picked Gavin up, we stopped in Hatfield and visited my friends Tina and David for a little bit until Shawn got off work.  Then it was off to dinner at our usual Friday night spot...Jalisco's.

Saturday was kind of busy at home, but was lazy too.  We just lounged around and played the tablet some, played the Wii some, vacuumed, worked on our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, baked some cupcakes, and made deviled eggs.  Then later that night Uncle Shawn had people over for a UFC fight.

Gavin makes a lot of paintings in school and Beth has them hung up all over the kitchen.  I asked for one of them and got this fun green one.  I bought a frame for it and am going to hang it in his room.

Working on our coloring pages for our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Taking a break to play some Super Mario Brothers!

Licking cake batter off the beaters!  It's yummy Stace!

Shawn had a fight night last Saturday, and Zoe and Kiley wanted to bake some chocolate chip cookies!

Sunday we headed to church and celebrated Pastor's Appreciation Day!

There was bad storms Sunday afternoon taking Gavin home.  Luckily and thankfully, we were behind them the entire time.!

Pastor Appreciation Project

Sunday was Pastor Appreciation Day at church.  Instead of just tucking our money in a card, I wanted to do something different with it, more of a gift.  I saw someone post a similar idea either on FB or on Pinterest a couple weeks ago so I tried to go off of it, only I couldn't find the original post to go off of.

I think mine turned out pretty cute!  And I'll definitely reuse this idea for future gift ideas!

I just used a glass jar I bought at JoAnns, decorated it with a few different ribbons, attached some stickers to a piece of card stock, and stuffed it full of 100 one dollar bills!

Our Pastor's name is Bill.  Get it....Bill's bills!  LOL!

I didn't take many pictures that day at church.  And the ones I did take are below.  Our theme this year was Hand in Hand with our Pastor!  Happy Pastor Appreciation Day Bro. Heard!  We love you and Sis. Heard very much!  Our Pastor's son-in-law preached a great message and then we had a meal afterwards with fried chicken, ham and all the fixins!

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child!

This year, Gavin and I did two boxes.  One for a boy ages 2-4 and one for a girl ages 2-4.  And once again I packed the boxes so full, I had to ditch these plastic totes and go upstairs and confiscate two of Shawn's shoe boxes to use!  They were much bigger than the plastic totes and I was able to get everything in them without squishing anything.  Note to self for next year...don't buy plastic containers, use actual shoe boxes.

This year, I did all the picking out for the shoeboxes.  Kind of defeats the purpose of Gavin and I doing them together, but I get so excited about them!  So next year, we are gonna have to add more.  Two that Aunt Stace can do, and two that Gavin can do!  Note to self for next year....don't be greedy buying everything without Gavin.  Spend the day shopping with him and let him pick everything out for two boxes!

A close up of the boy's box

And a close up of the woman's box.  Not a girl's box, but a woman's box as Gavin calls it!

We did spend Saturday morning coloring our pages and filling out the questions and going through the goodies again to get them packed just right in the boxes!

Some of Gavin's answers to the questions:

Fave drink:  Water
Fave food:  Mom's spaghetti
Fave color:  Green
Fave game:  Legos Starwars
Fave thing to do:  Play mom's Kindle
I love Jesus because:  Jesus loves me :)

(Ignore our crazy Saturday morning bedhead please ;))

If you wrap the boxes, you are supposed to wrap the lid seperately from the box.  I guess so they can be opened and inspected?  Well last year, I wrapped the entire box so I'm wondering if that's why my box wasn't able to tracked?  This year I wrapped them seperatly.  Note to self...next year, wrap the boxes before you put all the stuff in them, they will be easier to manuever  Also, don't use a shoebox with a lid attached on one side...if you do, your wrap job will be horrible.  Second note to self...next year, buy decorative Christmas themed boxes that look they already have wrapping on them.  It will be easier!

Now I just have to drop the boxes off tonight and I will be done.  I pray that these boxes fall into the hands of a child who will be blessed because of their contents.  I pray that these boxes lift the spirit of that child.  And I pray that God blesses that child abundantly and beyond!

I'm ready to start shopping for next years boxes!

Fun at the Park!

Saturday the weather was nice, warm, sunny and windy!  A perfect day for playing at the park under the blue bridge!  I picked up Beth and Gavin early in the afternoon.  We stopped at Rebels to get chicken and taters and drinks and headed to the park for a picnic lunch and then playground fun!

I am always talking to Gavin in the car and our conversations truly amuse me!  I hadn't seen him seen Halloween and since he started school, I'm always curious how school is going and what he does.

Our little conversation went like this...

Me: Whatcha been doing in school?
Gavin: Same thing we do everyday.
Me: You have a girlfriend?
Gavin: NO!
Me: You have a boyfriend?
Gavin: NO!
Me: You like Miss April?
Gavin: Stop aggravating me Stace, I'm trying to look out the window!

I almost peed in my pants and Tooter about choked on her tater!  That little boy truly makes my heart happy!

When we got the park, all of the parking spots at the park and within a 2 block radius of the park had signs on them from the police department that you weren't allowed to park there at 11:00.  We didn't get there like till around 12:30 so I didn't know if the event had already happened or not.  Other people were parked in them, so I did too.  I figured I would be able to see if police or tow trucks were coming to move cars.  I found out from someone that there was a Veteran's Day parade at 3:45.  I just left the car in the spot I was in, I didn't think we would be there that long.  It probably wasn't an hour later and the police came by and said that people needed to move their cars or they would be towed.  I had to end up moving the car to a parking garage a couple blocks away.  And then even at that, I had to exit the garage by 3:30 or we would be blocked in until after the parade.  We ended up leaving at 3, and had a great day at the park!

We tossed lots of pennies into the fountains, so we hope to have lots of wishes come true!  Gavin definitely has my dad in him with how he stands watching stuff with his hands behind his back!

After we left this park, we drove out to Yellow Creek Park to walk around and hopefully take a few pictures.  Well that little junk point and shoot wasn't working out to well.  And I was definitely jealous of all the people out there with their DSLR cameras.  I sure wish mine would be coming back from the repair shop soon!  I should of waited till I was out of commission with my surgery to send it back in :(  Stinkin' thinkin' on my part!

Hopefully I'll have my camera back before all of this fall color is gone and I'm laid up on the couch for 4 to 6 weeks!
