Gavin's Halloween Walk & Party at School

I took a vacation day on Friday from work so I could hang out with Gavin at school for his Halloween party.  We started the afternoon off with lunch.  PSA:  School lunch pizza definitely doesn't taste the same as it did when I was in school.  Blah!

And then a little bit later it was workout time to get this kid in this blue ninja costume.  My sister sent me a text earlier saying good luck with the costume and if I can't figure it out, just look at the picture.  Seriously!?!  There is 875 pieces to this costume!  Next year let him be a ghost - one white sheet!!  HAHA!

Once everyone was changed into their costumes and given their treat bags, along with some instruction, we were out the door on a little jaunt through Rockport to collect and eat candy!  Businesses and some individuals were lined up and down Main Street passing out candy to all of the elementary school kids in Gavin's school.

A few familiar faces of friends and family!

After the trick-or-treating on Main Street, we headed back to the school for a Halloween party!

Gavin with his teacher.  This picture cost me THREE Mixels and a box of Trolli gummy worms!  I don't know why he has to be a stinker like that!

I've always loved making treat bags at Halloween time.  I'm sure it goes back to the time when we were kids growing up and mom made treat bags to pass out to the kids!  So needless to say, I was uber-excited to make treat bags for Gavin's class party today.  I had those babies stuffed full of goodness!  Each bag had a pencil, coloring book, M&M's, Laffy Taffy, Nerds, SweetTarts, Starburst, Bubble Gum, Lifesaver gummies, Skittles, and Suckers, and then some had stickers, erasers, and vampire teeth!

Happy Halloween!!

Happy Trick-or-Treat Day!!!

Halloween this year was a little bit different that it usually is.  Yeah, it was still on October 31, but the weather was supposed to be really bad that evening so a lot of cities postponed trick-or-treating until Friday, except Rockport.

I had already planned on trick-or-treating with Gavin this year instead of helping Shawn pass out candy at Boo in Boonville.  However because of the weather, I was able to do both this year :)

Thursday I left work early and went to pick up Beth, Gavin, and Tommy for some trick-or-treating fun!  Our first stop was at a church in Rockport for a trunk-or-treat evening.  They had some candy stations, free hot dogs and water, and then had a few prize giveaways.

After we left the trunk-or-treat event, we trick-or-treated a few houses near the church, then went to Aunt Dobie's and to Nan's before I dropped them off and headed home.

And some of my outside fall decorations (pictures taken with my junk cell phone, so the quality isn't that good!)

Carving Pumpkins

Last Saturday I went over to my sister's house to visit since I hadn't really got to spend time with them since before my surgery at the beginning of the month.  They had bought 3 pumpkins and had waited to carve them until I could come over and help.  This was my first time carving pumpkins and had alot of fun!

It took me forever to get Gavin to sit down with his pumpkin so I could take a picture.  That little stinkpot doesn't want his picture taken for anything anymore.  And by the looks of his face in the second picture, he's definitely up to something now good!  LOL!

As soon as we got started carving them, my sister opened her pumpkin up and I looked in and said Gross!  When Gavin heard that, he didn't want to have anything to do with the pumpkins.  He said "you carve the pumpkins, I'll be the "hicture" taker" and that he did. Not the most flattering pictures now, but hey, it is what it is.

I told Gavin to take a picture of me pretending to eat the pumpkin guts.  He said "no, no, don't eat that Stace".  I guess he thought I was really going to eat it, but trust me, I wasn't!  I don't like anything pumpkin!

After the pumpkin was cleaned out really good and carved, that's when Gavin wanted to sit down and help.

And here it is...my first carved pumpkin.  I think I did pretty good for a rookie!

And of course, midway through the carving and "hicture" taking, Gavin decided to run off and ride his big boy bike!

Boo in Boonville 2011

For Halloween again this year, Shawn and I passed out candy at the WOW! booth at Boo in Boonville.  We did this last year and had so much fun.  It's basically one long line of people walking around the square collecting candy.  I'm not sure how much candy everyone else passes out, but we went through 20+ large bags of candy.  Shawn does more of the passing out of candy, and I keep the table stocked and take pictures of trick or treaters.  I take pictures of a variety of the costumes, but for some reason, I love editing the scary/gory costumes the best!?!

Here is our stash of candy!  Can you believe we went through every bit of it, except for the box of gumballs (because they are for a gumball machine and aren't individually wrapped) and just a handful of candy!

There was LOTS of yummy candy and we had quite a few requests for what we gave them.

A line of people waiting to go around the square to collect candy.

My FAVE trick-or-treater of the evening....Spiderman aka Gavin!
Me being silly before we packed up for the evening.  That little bit of candy left on the table was all that was left.

I do NOT like this picture of us, but it's all that was taken of the two of us that night :(
