The Surgery from H3LL!

Back in October I had a Uterine Fibroid Embolization procedure done.  The surgery from h3ll!  Another roadblock in our journey of TTC!  Dr. Gentry seems to think that fibroid was in the way and instead of having surgery again, he opted to do UFE.  That procedure was 10 times worse than my abdominal surgery a few years ago to remove fibroids.  Instead of re-telling the story, I've copied my timeline of the surgery and days following the surgery from our TTC page of my blog.

9.5.12 - Bea with Dr. G's office called and said they are setting up my artery embolization (UAE/UFE) procedure and she will call me back with the details as soon as they have everything.

10.3.12 - Day of my UAE or UFE. Had to be at hospital at 7:00 a.m., procedure at 8:30 a.m. Procedure went fine. Recovery was hell! Lots of pain, nausea, vomiting, fever/chills, no appetite, no rest.

10.4.12 - Day one post-op - feeling somewhat better. Able to eat a little. Pain isn't as bed. Released from hospital at 1:00 p.m. Still not able to get comfortable to get any rest.

10.5.12 - Day two post-op - Shawn had to work today so I had him pick up my mom; I'm glad. I was miserable. Lots of pain, nausea, cramping, chills, fever, flu-like symptoms, constipated and bad back/hip pain from that, no appetite, not able to get comfortable to rest, used a heating pad alot. Called Dr. Gentry's office and was told to take Miralax and some Colace stool softeners; if no relief by Sunday to call back.

10.6.12 - Day three post-op - Mild cramping, constipated and lots of back/hip pain. FINALLY able to go to the bathroom some. More of an appetite, chasing Colace stool softeners with apple cider/Miralax cocktails.

10.7.12 - Day four post-op - Went to church this morning, then to take mom home. Completely wore out. Still constipated and uncomfortable from that, but having some small BM's. Noticed more abdominal pain today. Appetite back to normal, chasing Colace stool softeners with apple cider/miralax cocktails.

10.8.12 - Day five post-op - Didn't go to work today like scheduled. Finally able to rest and wanted to spend an entire day resting before getting back into things full throttle. Small BM's, still taking Colace stool softeners tho, abdominal cramps and discomfort, still using a heating pad, woke up with a cough, sore throat and achy ears (I know this is from Shawn - he caught something from the hospital!)

10.9.12 - Day six post-op - Feeling much better from my procedure; went to work all day today. Noticed when I'm up walking around alot or climbing stairs, the upper part of my right thigh gets really tired and achy. I've got some aches on my lower hips (not sure about this). I've been having BM's so that's good. On the other hand, I think I've got a sinus infection/bronchitis. I felt bad all day, with deep, pghlemy coughs, hot, tired and just achy.

10.10.12 - Day seven post-op - Surgery wise, I'm doing better. Went to my family doctor today and I have a sinus infection. He said it's from having a weak immune system right now, and the fact that there is alot of crud going around.

10.29.12 - Met with Dr. G for a post-op appt. Wants to see me back in 3 months to do an SIS u/s.

Playground Fun @ Smother's Park

Saturday me, Beth and Gavin went to Owensboro to a vendor fair that a friend from church was at with her Tastefully Simple food.  After the vendor fair, we went to the new Smother's Park in Owensboro to play.  The weather was a little chilly that day, but the sun was out and helped a bit.  There wasn't alot of people at the park so it was easy to keep an eye on Gavin as he ran around and had ALOT of fun!  This is a new park that they built last year and it is simply amazing!

I copied this from a website about the park "Set to reopen in August 2012, the new Smothers Park will be more than just a riverfront park. The park will be the home of the Shelton Memorial Park, honoring MIA’s from all wars. It will feature an iconic fountain at the foot of Frederica Street. An outdoor children’s museum and playground includes handicap-accessible overhead ramps inside large artificial trees. The park will span five city blocks and cover over five acres of land. It will also offer outdoor space for events, with concessions and restroom facilities."

The children's area of the park was awesome!  There was so many different slides and playground equipment for children of all ages!  Gavin and I both had fun on the slides and running around the ramps and through the trees!  I can't wait to go back with him!

What a brilliant idea!!!  Portable heaters to warm up with when it's cold outside!

There was all kinds of ice sculptures when we were there and were able to watch them carve one!

Visit Owensboro - You can click on this link to take you to lots more pictures of the new park and some ariel shots of the entire park!

Daniel Fast 2013: Because There's More

Sunday marked the start of the Daniel Fast.  This is our 4th year doing the fast.  I had inquired from other church members early last week if anyone had heard if we were doing the fast this year.  I was told that we probably weren't with our pastor out of commission.  I always enjoy the fast, cause it gives me a jump start on weight loss, along with the spiritual aspect of it.  I was bummed when I heard we weren't, but then I was relieved.  I mean who really wants to give up everything yummy and delicious for 21 days anyway!  Then a day or two later, I saw my Pastor's FB status and it said that we were starting the fast on Sunday.  WHAT?  I thought we weren't doing it.  At first I was aggravated....I was excited that we weren't doing it, I have to meal plan, I have to grocery shop, I need more time!  But after the fact set it, I was excited to be doing it.  I've meal planned each meal for the first week, I wrote out my grocery list of everything I needed and I hit the store on Friday so we would be ready to go Sunday morning.

Our breakfasts consists of bananas and nuts, maybe an occasional bowl of organic cereal.  Our lunches consist of the leftovers from our dinners the night before.  And our Sunday night dinners will probably consist of veggie burgers and spicy cubed potatoes.

Below are some photos from a few of our different meals.

Beans, fried potatoes and corn

Chili with veggie crumbles

Brown rice veggie paella and fruit salad

Fried rice

Armed with snacks for the day!

Seasoned potato fries

"Meat" and potatoes

Spicy potato cubes

Taco salad/dip

Spaghetti with garden veggies

Poor Sassy Hose :(

Poor Sassy Hose :(  My mom's dog Sassy got attacked by two pit bulls last Thursday afternoon.  Mom had her on her leash and was taking her out behind her apartment building to go potty when these two pit bulls attacked her.  Mom said she was yelling and screaming and had a stick beating the dogs to try and get them off of Sassy.  Another lady was out there too helping mom.  She said people were in there apartments yelling through the window.  Someone called the cops.  Eventually they were able to get them apart.  Mom said after the incident, her, the cops and some other residents of the high rise were standing out front and the dogs came back and tried to attack a lady.  The cops tazered the dogs and it hardly phased them!  Mom had to take Sassy to the vet.  Thankfully the owners of the bit pulls accepted responsibility and paid the vet bill for mom, were very apologetic about the whole situation, and are trying to find new homes for the dogs.

I'm thankful that mom didn't have Gavin out with her as she often does!  I'm also thankful that Sassy Hose had minimal damage to her.  It definitely could of been alot worse!

Monster Truck Jams 2013

Friday night was the Monster Truck Jams.  Shawn picked up Gavin before I got off work and brought him into my work so the girls could see just how big my little man is getting.  We ate dinner at Lic's and then headed to the Ford Center for the Monster Jams!  Uncle Shawn got us front row tickets too!  While we all had a good time, the performance definitely wasn't as good as it has been in past years.  It appeared to me that there was too much intermission antics and not enough Monster Trucks racing and jumping!

Little man in his "earphone" fka "earplanes".  Loud noises bother him (even the toilet flushing), so these earphones definitely come in handy.  Uncle Shawn bought them for him last year when we took him to the Monster Trucks.

When we got there, we picked out the truck we watned to root for all night.  We choose Samson, the blue truck with the big muscle arms.  We didn't choose well.  He was out of commision with this first jump!

And Uncle Shawn wonders why they don't let you sit down closer!  We would of been pelted to death with mud!!
