We Have a 4th Grader Now!

Well today is Gavin's last day of third grade.  When the school bell rings for the last time today, he'll officially be a fourth grader.  I can't even believe it!  These last nine years have flown by and in a blink he's grown so much.  He's such a sweet boy, but also a silly boy!  

Yesterday was awards day at his school and Aunt Stace took the day off work to go to them, along with his mom and dad.

He received three awards and a medal for Honor Roll, Citizenship, and Accelerated Reading! 

We are all SO PROUD of everything you are doing and accomplishing big boy! 

Pie the Principal!

At Gavin's school's spring carnival, the students could throw a pie in the principal's face for $1.  Gavin got in line with his dollar and toasted Mr. Meyer in the face!  He thought it was the funniest thing ever!

Awards Day!

Last Thursday morning before work, I headed to Rockport Elementary School for their awards day ceremony!  My little man brought home two awards - one for Honor Roll and one for Citizenship.  So proud of the awesome little guy he is and how incredibly smart he is.  I can't believe he's already a second grader!  Aunt Stace loves you Tonto!

Gavin's Halloween Walk & Party at School

I took a vacation day on Friday from work so I could hang out with Gavin at school for his Halloween party.  We started the afternoon off with lunch.  PSA:  School lunch pizza definitely doesn't taste the same as it did when I was in school.  Blah!  

And then a little bit later it was workout time to get this kid in this blue ninja costume.  My sister sent me a text earlier saying good luck with the costume and if I can't figure it out, just look at the picture.  Seriously!?!  There is 875 pieces to this costume!  Next year let him be a ghost - one white sheet!!  HAHA!  

Once everyone was changed into their costumes and given their treat bags, along with some instruction, we were out the door on a little jaunt through Rockport to collect and eat candy!  Businesses and some individuals were lined up and down Main Street passing out candy to all of the elementary school kids in Gavin's school.

After the trick-or-treating on Main Street, we headed back to the school for a Halloween party!

I've always loved making treat bags at Halloween time.  I'm sure it goes back to the time when we were kids growing up and mom made treat bags to pass out to the kids!  So needless to say, I was uber-excited to make treat bags for Gavin's class party today.  I had those babies stuffed full of goodness!  Each bag had a pencil, coloring book, M&M's, Laffy Taffy, Nerds, SweetTarts, Starburst, Bubble Gum, Lifesaver gummies, Skittles, and Suckers, and then some had stickers, erasers, and vampire teeth!

Gavin's Kindergarten Field Trip

Back in October, I met Gavin's kindergarten class out at Trunnel's Farm Market in Utica, Kentucky for their class field trip. For some reason I thought we would be the only school there and would just have the run of the place.  That wasn't the case.  There were school buses and kids everywhere!  In fact, there was SEVEN different schools there!  It was all very well organized for our group and we had a great time learning about pumpkins and gourds, picking pumpkins, and playing!

I'm obviously behind at blogging about this trip, so I'll post this here too.  Back at Thanksgiving time, Trunnell's Farm Market did a Facebook photo contest.  I entered this picture into their contest and won honorable mention which got us two free passes to their family fun acre next fall!

Gavin's Winter Musical

Last night was Gavin's grade school Winter Fest.  It's a two night event with the pre-K, kindergarten, first, & second grades singing last night, and then the third, fourth, & fifth grades signing tonight.  The kids last night did such an amazing job with their songs and the motions to their songs!  I'm so glad I got to go and so proud of how well-behaved Gavin is and how much he is learning in school!  His music teacher did a wonderful job teaching the kids and getting them prepared for the musical.

Now the rudeness of the adults and their disrespect for others by talking during the performance was a whole different story, but I won't go there.  

One of the songs the pre-K class sang was "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen.  This little girl was really belting it out!  I love how the other little kids are looking at her!

The kindergarten class getting ready to sing!  They sang "Jingle Bells", "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth", and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas", or as Gavin says "I Wish You Were A Merry Christmas".
