The Bluff in Rockport
Saturday I went over to Chrystal's to take her some Holiday World tickets and of course I had my new camera in tow. She suggested that we go to the bluff in Rockport to take some pictures. It was lots of fun and I really liked how they turned out using the new camera. Here are a few of the pictures I got.

Thanks Newburgh Volunteer Fire Department
for your fast response time and your help. It was a few minutes after 2 this morning and Shawn and I and all of the animals were asleep downstairs in the living room when all 6 of our alarms in the house started going off. It scared the hejeebies out of us and we didn't know what was going on. We didn't smell smoke or fire or feel heat. I actually didn't know if the alarms were smoke alarms, fire alarms or carbon monoxide detectors. We both ran through the house checking everything and couldn't find anything to warrant them going off. I didn't know if I should call 911 or not. I called my mom cause moms always know what to do. She said to just call them and tell them what's going on. Shawn tried to call just the fire dept to ask them about it, but got an answering machine. So I called 911 and told the lady on the phone what was going on. She said she would send someone out to check them. I turned the porch light on and opened the door and waited for them. Within just a minute or two, a volunteer fireman showed up in his car. He came inside and checked the alarms out. Then another volunteer showed up. And the next thing I knew, there was a fire truck outside with its lights on and there were two or three more firemen in the house in all their equipment going upstairs with a ladder to check the attic. Come to find out, all of our smoke detectors are hard wired together with battery backup and when one of the batteries starts to go bad, it sets them off. So we just need to get new batteries in all of the detectors. This was definitely an eye-opening experience to me to replace the batteries every six months like recommended and to clean the alarms periodically cause if they get too dusty, they can go off. I'm also going to be purchasing a carbon monoxide detector and a fire extingusher cause we don't have one of those either. Every since mom had her house fire a few years ago and lost everything but the brick foundation, I'm such a freak about fires and such. It's making my stomach hurt just thinking about it.

Randomness
I haven't blogged in about a week, so for those few of you that follow me, here is what's been happening.
Monday started the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival. You can find out more about it here. Shawn was working at a booth from 1 - 6 p.m., so after work Richard and Scott picked me up in the RJ or FJ, I can't ever remember what their vehicle is called. Scott dropped Richard and I off and relieved Shawn for the night. Shawn and I walked around and I ate entirely too much food. It was really crowded down there but not overly crowded!
Tuesday my new camera and all of the accessories came so after work I played around with that. Seems like something else happened too, but for the life of me I can't seem to remember.
Wednesday after work I came home and boxed up my Avon. Took the puppy for a walk, only I think I packed him more than he walked. I didn't think it was that long of a walk, but if you have 2-inch legs, it must of been long. LOL!!
Thursday night Beth and I went down to the Fall Fest again. We shared all of our food, so we got to try some different stuff. We had corn on the cob, fried green beans, a grilled tenderloin sandwich, stuffed pepper soup, apple cider, an apple cider slush, a corndog (which I only had about 3 bites off and thought I would barf from overeating), and kraut balls (well Bethie ate these and the only reason she ate them is because she is pregnant and has those weird food cravings - LOL!!).
Friday night I took the puppy for a shorter walk tonight. We delivered some Avon to the neighbor and then went over to his little friend Josh's house for a few minutes. Made homemade pizza for supper tonight and are just relaxing at home. I'm trying to finish up Zoe's project I made her for counting to 100. I meant to take a before picture of the ugly frame I used, but forgot. Here is an after picture of the frame and a couple pictures of Zoe holding her ribbon for counting to 100. I couldn't believe it was the same old blue ribbons that they gave out when I learned to count to 100...err many moons ago. I'm going to print one of the pictures of her with her ribbon and put it in the frame for her. I know she's going to be proud of the frame...cause her Stacey made it. :)

I've been playing around with the camera some. Here are a few pictures of my critters that I took this evening.

Well I better get. I'm pretty sure the new puppy is making Shawn nuts right now. LOL!

Allure, An Evening For Women
Allure, An Evening for Women. A couple of girls from work and I went to this event last night. We went for our co-worker, and friend, Cara Sweeney. At least years Allure evening, she was choosen as the Allure Spokeswoman for 2008. That entitled a year of excitement for Cara. She underwent some major changes, all for the better. She worked out with a personal trainer 5 days a week, transitioned from glasses to contacts, got botox and collagen injections, had skin care treatments including chemical and blue peels, and much more. At last night's event, she was "unveiled" and looked amazing!
Along with Cara's unveling, it was a night of pampering, shopping, and indulgences. There was lots of vendor booths set up, hors d' ueuvers, champaigne, chocolate fountain and much more. There were stylists set up to do hair and makeup, photograhpers were taking your picture, there were manicure stations, massages and even fake eyelashes you could have put on. A few girls in the office did this and they looked great!
Throughout the evening, there were prizes given away and my name was drawn after I left. Luckily they let some of the girls from the office claim my prize for me. Of all things to win, I won a bottle of wine. I don't drink, so I was bummed about the prize. Until I saw how it arrived.

Isn't that shoe cute??
It's a wine bottle holder, although I believe I will be using it as a door stop in my bedroom upstairs. Everytime the windows are open and the wind blows, it blows the door shut.
I got a few pictures of Cara, but haven't uploaded them to my computer yet. I'm waiting so I can find a before picture and then post an after picture so you can see the amazing results she as accomplished.

I'm gonna have a nephew!!
Bethie went to the doctor today and had her anatomy ultrasound done. She came home with lots of pictures, pictures on a CD, and the news of having a BOY!!!! We were all hoping it was a girl, but we are thrilled with a boy! Shawn is way excited to have a nephew to take fishing and to teach to play golf. I'm just excited for a healthy baby! Beth is going to have to have ultrasounds done monthly until the baby is born so I'll be posting monthly ultrasound pics.
