Gatlinburg 2011 Trip Report: Thurs. Oct. 20

Originally drafted October 21, 2011

Thursday morning was check-out day so we slept in longer than we had throughout the week, got ready and packed everything and then loaded the car to start our journey back home.  We had breakfast at the Old Mill (which was just ok) and then did some shopping in the Old Miller area.  We bought some soups at their country store, a bear for Gavin, and then at their toy shoppe, we got Gavin a loud, noisy gun.  Hee!  We also stopped at the Three Bears Gift Shoppe so I could get a chair massage since I had a coupon for a free 5 minutes massage.  It wasn’t the kind of chair massages I was thinking it was so I got the Aqua Massage instead.  I also wiggled myself with the Chi machine, but wasn’t a fan of it.  It hurt my ankles and for about a week afterwards, my left ankle hurt.  Note to self:  don’t chi anymore.  LOL!!  We also paid to see the black bears they have in the gift shop.  I didn’t really want to pay to see them, however it was cheap, and I know I wouldn’t of been happy not seeing any bear at all!  We also stopped at the Adidas store at the outlets down there and got me two pair of new tennis shoes.  We stopped for lunch at Long John Silvers and then we were on our way to Nashville for the next couple days to stay at some friend’s house.

My Poor Car

Originally drafted October 24, 2010.

I remember this all too well.  My friend Lisa and I had went out to lunch on this day.  We were headed to Janbo's for Chinese only to get there and they were closed on Mondays.  So we headed to another Chinese restaurant on the west side of Evansville.  We had just pulled out of their parking lot after eating and a lady made a left hand turn right in front of me and I hit her.  Once I made sure that I was ok and that Lisa was ok, I looked over to see how the lady was that I had hit and realized that she didn't stop her car; she drove way from the scene.  I couldn't believe it!!  I was in utter shock that this was happening!

Lisa and I pulled in the parking lot at the Home Depot.  I got out to inspect the car and to call the police.  Quite a few people stopped to see if we were ok.  Another lady stopped to tell me she got the license plate number of the other car.  Another man stopped to tell us that the lady that got the license plate number had chased the other driver down and had her cornered in the Walmart parking lot.  Workers from the Golden Corral across the road ran out to tell us that there was police in there eating and they had told them that there was a wreck.

The police showed up, made sure we were ok and got my side of the story, they went to find the other driver.  After a while, they came over and got us and had us drive over to the area where the other driver was.  The lady gave the police insurance information, but they knew she was lying so they ticketed her for illegal left turn and failure to yield, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without insurance.

I'm not sure if my insurance company ever got their money back, but I got my car fixed!  I can't remember exactly the total cost of damage to my car, but it was a couple thousand dollars.

Rain, rain, go away

Originally posted October 7, 2010.  I guess I hadn't posted any pictures to this post when I started drafting it. :(

Last Saturday we went to Holiday World.  I left the house at 9:00 a.m. and picked up Zoe and then my sister, Beth, and my nephew Gavin.  When we got to Holiday World, there was hardly anyone there.  The parking lot was not crowded and that's what I liked.  The weather for the day was supposed to be around 68 degrees.  However, the day turned cold and wet really fast.  We rode a few rides and then had lunch.  After lunch, it started raining and got even colder.  We were all cold and wet and decided around 2:30 p.m. to call it a day.  We didn't get to ride all of the rides, but were happy with what we did get to do.  Gavin LOVED riding the rides this time.  He rode on the old time cars, the big carousel, played on the playground, rode the fishes, the airplanes and the rockets.  The only thing he wasn't a fan of was the carousel.  I have more tickets and this weekend coming up is their last day open for the season so we are going to try and go again.

On the way home, we stopped by the Lincoln State Park and Lincoln Amphitheatre area.  We didn't actually go into the park.  It was $5 a car to get in and all I wanted to do was drive through and see what the park was like.  I think if it hadn't of been raining and wet, then maybe we would of gone through.  We were able to drive through the Lincoln Amphitheatre area and it was really neat and there is some great photo opportunities there.  I can't wait to go back!

Superbowl party

This post is from February 2009 and I'm guessing we attended a Superbowl party at the Robinson's house.

Look how little my Hershey Bell, and Zoe Bell, were :)

RIP Masey :(

Draft posts

As I was looking through my blog posts, I realized I have 22 unfinished drafts.  Tonight my plan is to go through them and try to update them as much as possible and post them.  For those that follow my blog, these are definitely out of order!
