Another Friday @ the Owensboro Riverfront

I took a half day vacation on Friday and hung out again at the Owensboro riverfront.  Twice that day actually.

I left work at noon and drove to Rockport to pick up my sister and Gavin.  We had been having exceptionally great weather this week so I thought it would be fun to go to Smothers Park, or as Gavin, well and us, calls it, the park under the blue bridge.  

We started off the afternoon with lunch at Angelo's in Rockport.  Yummy Stromboli's, mini sausage pizza, and their deliciously, yummy bread sticks with cheese and marinara sauce.  And of course Big Red fountain drinks!  And every time I'm there, I have to take a picture of the bread sticks, post it on Facebook, and just wait for all the comments from haters!  LOL!!

Next stop, the park off the blue bridge.  When I had the idea of playing there, I had planned on Gavin playing on the playground part, but he informed me that he was taking his goggles.  I guess he associated the park with the splash park!  LOL!!  Fine with me bubby!  Remember how I said we had been having great weather, well while it was still great, it was a tad bit warmer than it had been.  And that sun was hot!  LOL!  I wish I would of packed my swimsuit cause we would of headed to the pool instead.  It sure was warm outside!  Me and Tootie didn't stand a chance out there.  LOL!!  Gavin played in the water for a little bit, and then played on the playground for a few minutes and then we headed towards home!

I hadn't planned on us spending alot of time at the park anyways cause Gavin had VBS that night and I had plans with Shawn, the Robinson's, and the Lantrip's to go back to Owensboro for dinner and to go to the Friday After 5 event.  On the way back to take Beth and Gavin home, I remembered a friend from high school was having a yard sale, so we ran by her house to say hi.  I ended up buying 3 Vera Bradley purses, 2 Vera Bradley billfold's, another purse, and a 31 water bottle coozie that I'm going to use for one of my camera lenses.  It was like the yard sale motherload for me!  HAHA!

After I dropped Beth and Gavin off, I headed to the Robinson's, we picked up Zoe from her friend's house, and then we were on our way to Owensboro.  We met the Lantrip's at a pizza place down on the Owensboro riverfront called Fetta Specialty Pizza.  The Lantrip's got us a table out on the patio.  While it was still sunny and warm, we had a great time out there.  Our waitress and the staff were exceptionally friendly and kept checking on us.  We always had full drink glasses and never had to wait on a refill.  They even brought out a couple shade umbrellas and put them near some of the outside tables to block the sun. 

While I was extremely still full and hot from lunch and the sun, I didn't eat much, but what I did was pretty good.  I ordered a garden salad and a slice of white bean and sausage pizza.  I only ate a few bites of the salad and a bite or two of the pizza.  I tried a bite of Kristi's mashed potato pizza...nah.  And then a bite of Shawn's pulled pork pizza...it was OK.  I definitely want to go back and try it again when I'm hungry.  LOL!!  

After dinner, we walked down to the Friday After 5 event area.  A group called After Midnight was playing 70's big hair band music on the main stage.  Of course the usual Friday entertainment was there too!  LOL! 

 

 I was super bummed that they didn't have the photo booth down there last night!  I wanted all of us to get in the booth for a crazy picture!!  Me, Heather, Kristi and the girls did manage to get in a photo frame picture, but it wasn't the same :(

After the event, we all parted ways.  And the Robinson-mobile headed to Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt for a sweet treat before heading home!  Dairy Queen would of been better, but Shawn had to have his way ;)  HAHA!!  

Gavin & Aunt Stace go to Burdette

Last Friday night Gavin spent the night with me.  I wanted to take him to Burdette on Saturday so he could enjoy some little kid pool time, however the weather was supposed to be a little cooler than normal and rainy.  So we decided to start the day with a few yard sales.  I had all of our pool stuff packed in the car anyways, just in case.  By the time we got finished with our third yard sale, it was smokin hot and sunny.  It was about 10:00 and I said to Bubby, how about we go get some breakfast and go swimming.  He said "yeah!"

Our breakfast destination was Cracker Barrel and it was yummy!  Of course right after we sat down and ordered our drinks and food and received our drinks, Gavin had to go to the bathroom.  When we came back from the bathroom and headed towards our table, we had a nice clean table.  I knew it would happen. Our waitress had to bring us out new drinks and tableware. 

After breakfast, we headed to Burdette.  We were in and changed by 11:30 and had a great afternoon of pool fun.  I think we finally ended up leaving around 4 or 4:30.  While there, there was an incidence of poop in the pool that resulted in a 45 minute wait while they cleaned the pool.  There was also two incidences of the need of the lifeguards.  Hopefully those two people were ok.  We also expereienced the snackbar with some yummy nachos while Gavin splayed in the sprinklers and sprayers in the the spray park.

This little boy is like a fish in the water.  He loves wearing those swim doggles and "diving" into the water and retreiving the dive rings and just swimming around and floating.

And on the ride home I got another one of these answers "no Stace, I'm not sleepy" and two minutes later this is the result!

After we left Burdette, we headed back home so I could change and gather up Gavin's stuff so I could take him home.  But not before our stop at the Tastee Freeze.  We were gonna go Friday night, but we were all stuffed from dinner at Angelo's.  We made sure and saved room for the ice cream Saturday evening.  And I must say, that ice cream trip was an ordeal!! 

Gavin was still asleep when we got to the TF so I woke him up and put a shirt on him once he got out of the car.  I thought about seeing if he needed to pee since he had been asleep and it had been awhile since he went, but thought no, we'll cross that bridge later.  I should of had him go.  As soon as they handed us our already-melting ice cream cones, Gavin tells me he has to pee.  I ask if they have a bathroom, which of course they do, but won't let us use.  That's ok. I inform them that we will then be peeing in their parking lot.  So off to the car we head, with two ice cream cones in my left hand a little boy in my right hand.  I get the passenger side door open and tell him to pee towards the ground in the corner and to pull his pants down.  Well he's got wet swim trunks on and I forgot they are tied in the front.  I see them down in the back and he starts peeing, only it's shooting in the air and all over my car door.  Ugh!  I take my hand and push his little business down so that he's peeing on the ground and I have pee all over my hand and the in the car door.  And I have melting ice cream running down my other hand.  I only had a few napkins so I tried to clean up the pee/ice cream mess as best I could, but we were both hot messes!  We went back over to the bench to sit down and finish the ice cream and while there, he dropped his ice cream cone on the ground.  He said "Stac, you're gonna have to get me another ice cream cone."  I said "bub, you're gonna have to eat this one and I scrapped off the dirt."  I told him no more ice cream cones for us; only ice cream in a cup and we are peeing beforehand! 

The drive home was another story too.  It was pouring down rain and storming like crazy!  I know he was freaked out some and so was I! 

Once we finally made it to Rockport we visited with Tootie and Nannie and then headed over to the park for a picnic and fireworks!

Church Yard Sale

A couple weekends ago, we had a church yard sale at my house.  The purpose of the sale was to raise money so we could buy the stuff we needed to have a booth at the Newburgh Fiddler Fest so we could raise funds for our church.  The sale was Friday and Saturday and me and Alex and Allesha manned the entire sale both days.  We couldn't of asked for more better weather!  It was sunny and in the low 80's both days!  This comes as a blessing as the weekend before it was in the 100's.  It was also predicted to rain Friday monring and it didn't!  We raised over $400!  Below are a couple pictures I took of the girls at the sale.

Pastor Appreciation: Yard Sale

On Saturday, October 1, we had a church yard sale at my house.  It was originally going to be at the church, but because of all the road construction around the church, we moved it to my house.  I live in a great location and we often have yard sales at my house.  I didn't advertise this yard sale in the paper this year, just because it costs around $40 to place a very small ad in the paper.  Instead I advertised like crazy on Facebook, Craigslist, Evansville FreeCycle and using signs in the neighborhood.  It was a great day!  We were busy from 7:00 a.m. until around 3:30 p.m. when we started breaking everything down.  There was only maybe once during the day that we had a lull and it was only for a few minutes.  We raised $540 through the sale!  Praise you Jesus for blessing us with this fundraiser, because our last couple have not been the greatest!  We also sold brownies and hot chocolate at the sale as well.  I just want to say thanks to everyone who cleaned out their house and donated items for the sale.  And a special thanks to Angie, Allesha, and Alex for helping load everything at the church and bring to my house and unload it!  Thanks to Garvin for bringing tables to my house, unloading them, then reloading them after the sale and taking them back to the church.  Thanks to Teresa, Dale, Allesha, Alex, and Angie for helping set everything out, pricing, and helping the actual day of the sale.  You are all a blessing and God sees your hard work and servanthood!

The night before the sale, Alex and I were being silly when we were setting everything out and found these clothes, hats, and accessories in the yard sale stuff.  I think we would make pretty hot chics for working in road construction.    LOL!!
