Jamaican Vacation Day 8, Tuesday, June 20

Sad day!

Today is a sad day all around.  It's our last day of being in Jamaica.  It's sad because we had to get up early, get ready and finish packing so we could have our luggage outside our door ready for pick-up by 8:00 a.m., eat breakfast, and be ready to get on the sad bus by 9:15 a.m. to go home.  It's sad because we leave at 9:15 a.m. to start our journey home and we won't actually get home until around 11:30 p.m.  It's sad because we are leaving paradise and new friends.  It's sad because we have to go back to reality, and work, and adult responsibilities.  It's sad because we are leaving such an amazing place on such a beautiful day!

On our way to breakfast I stopped and looked in the rocks in the landscaping to see if the little crab was in there because I saw him go in there one of the nights he crossed my path.  And sure enough, there he was with his beady little eye staring at me!

The pool area where I did not spend much time at all.  Shawn wanted to go to the pool all the time.  I would always tell him "I did not spend all this money to go to the pool.  I could go to the pool back home.  I'm going to the beach!"  Shawn obviously isn't a big fan of the beach.

We discovered these big comfy rocker chairs one night.  I loved just sitting in them relaxing with a drinkie in hand and listening to the tree frogs and night sounds.

Twinies :)  HAHA!!  I don't know who this guy was but he was behind me in line for breakfast so I asked if we could take a picture together since we were wearing the same shirt!

My last breakfast.  This is what most of my breakfast's consisted off - eggs, bacon (so good!), potatoes of some sort, french toast with pineapple compote, and then today's syrup was coconut syrup.

I also had pineapple and banana bread.  I wish I would of smuggled some of that bread and pineapple home.  They were both so yummy.  Pineapple in Jamaica is so much better than the pineapple we get in the states.

Our last views of paradise...

The customary sad face photo!

And there it is.  The sad bus.  The bus every one dreads to get on.  The bus that takes you back to the airport so you can return to reality.  The bus that everyone on it told the driver to circle block and drop us back off at the resort.

Jamaican speed limit signs.

The ride back to the airport was definitely alot less talkative than the ride to the resort.  Everyone was either still half asleep, or just sad :(  I just spent the whole time taking, or trying to take pictures, of everything I saw along the way.  Alot of these pictures are blurry because of the driving, but I'm posting them anyways.  It was such an eyeopening experience to see Jamaica and how it is so different from the states and the way we live.  Next time we go back, I'm going to hire me a driver to drive me around and show me more of Jamaica!

A few pictures of Tryall Golf Club where Shawn golfed one morning.

I thought I was sitting on the correct side of the bus going back to the airport so I could get pictures of the inside of the island, but I messed myself over.  Jamaica is full of mountains and it's so amazing to look up those mountains and see all kinds of houses built on them.

I told Shawn he could work for Digicel and we could move to Jamaica :)

The Revenue Services of Montego Bay

Beth, show this to Gavin.  I'm going to get some of these sticker and put on my car for him!

See the motorcycle in this picture parked up under the tree?  We watched the guy cut through traffic, ramp the curb, and drive up in the grass to park his motorcycle.  I don't think you'd ever see that around here.

Those mountains!!  I have a thing for mountains whether it's the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, or the Blue Mountains in Jamaica!

The vacation is quickly coming to an end as we arrive at the airport in Montego Bay.  We unloaded the bus, our luggage was unloaded and taken inside and a new adventure began as we had to maneuver our way to get boarding passes, pay for luggage, check in, go through immigration and customs and find our gate.  Welcome to the hottest airport ever!  HA!

Finally on our plane leaving Montego Bay, Jamaica flying into Atlanta, Georgia.  Time for a 2 1/2 hour nap!

Be still MY heart...

Welcome to Atlanta :(

We had a four hour layover in Atlanta and I was bummed about being there for so long.  However after all that we encountered arriving back in the states from going through immigration and customs, getting our checked luggage from the carousal and rechecking it, and because Shawn's golf clubs were over sized, they were always in a different area from our regular luggage so we had to find them, to going through security which was bottle-necked from being shut down due to a person trying to jump through security, I was forever thankful for that four hour layover!  So many people around us were missing their flights.  Shawn took these pictures when we were in security.  These are the people to the left and to the right of where we were standing.

After going through all of that, we had just enough time to find our gate, sit down and grab a bite to eat, use the bathroom, and then it was time to board our flight home to Evansville.

While using the restroom in Atlanta, I ran into a friend who was flying back home to Rockport after visiting her daughter!

We arrived in Evansville around 9:30 p.m., grabbed our luggage and headed towards the car.  Well Shawn did, I waited at the curb for him with our luggage.  And I waited, and waited and waited.  Another gentleman pulled up to pick up some people beside and said "mam, do you have your husband's parking lot ticket.  He can't find it and they won't let him out".  I said I don't think I have it, and I have his phones too so he can't call me.  LOL!!  Eventually they let him through but not before collecting his information, license plate number, etc. and paying for the parking for the days we were there.

We loaded the luggage in the car, popped in our CD from Donnovan, and drove home listening to Jamaican tunes.  I stayed awake making sure Shawn drove on the American side of the road and not the Jamaican side of the road!

Much peace, love and respect!  Until next time...
