A Saturday of Fun

Last Saturday, I spent the day in Rockport with Beth and Gavin, and then later on with them, Mom, and Tommy.  I picked up Beth and Gavin and we went to Angelo's for lunch.  It was SO yummy!  I don't get to eat there often, but when I do, it's always so delicious.  We had stromboli's and breadsticks with cheese and sauce.  Beth and I were talking and I guess not really paying attention to Gavin cause I looked over and he had taken his plate and smashed it in his face....probably trying to lick the cheese sauce off.  LOL!!  Of course I had to take a picture of him before I let Beth try to clean him.

After lunch we went to a friend's open house for her Thirty-One business and Gavin had a little accident and put scuff marks on his forehead and nose.  But he was a tough little cracker and only cried a few tears before drying it up and playing again.  We left there and picked mom up to take her to the Rockport Pow-Wow where Jeff was at, only they were getting ready to leave so we left too.  We went back to Beth's for a little bit and then headed to the Grandview Fall Festival.  I hadn't been to it in a few years.  It was like a trip down memory lane.  LOL!  They had food, some games for the kids, a barrel train, a little flea market, a Chinese auction, bingo, and entertainment.  Me, mom, and Beth played bingo and thought we were going to get kicked out cause we kept winning.  Between the 3 of us, we bingoed about 8 times in an hour or two time span.  Each time we won, it was only a couple of dollars so we kept paying for each other to play.  It was alot of fun.  I bought a couple tickets and Gavin rode the barrel train once.  I tried to put him on it again later, but he wasn't having it.  He wasn't sure about it the first time either, but he did good and didn't cry.  He's getting to be such a big boy!

We stayed and listened to some of the entertainment.  This guy was on earlier as Conway Twitty and then came back out as Elvis.  He did a really good job and entertained the crowd well!

The Wrecked Junker

About 5 days before we left for vacation this month to Florida, some kid decided to involve my husband in a wreck.  Shawn was at the light at Burkhardt and Morgan waiting in the left hand turn lane to turn onto Morgan.  Some guy comes out of the Thornton's and hits Shawn and then leaves the scene of the accident.  Thankfully there was a witness who called 911 and gave the police a description of the car that hit him.  They caught him and he was given two tickets.  He didn't have a license and the car wasn't his.  Thankfully, the owner of the car had insurance so we didn't have to pay for anything, well except a new car now.  This car was paid for and it was so nice not having a car payment.  Now, we have another one.  UGH!  We did get a hefty check from the insurance company to use as a down payment on the new car, so that helped bring the payment down a bit.  The only benefit is that we are done with the red junker car and Shawn is driving a newer, nicer car.  I absolutely LOATHED driving the red car.  I would throw the biggest fit when I had to drive it.  The new car is a 2008 Hyundai Sonata, 4 doors, power everything, fully loaded, and has a sun/moon roof.  It's SWEET!  Of course I haven't gotten a chance to take a picture of it yet (however I did find one on the Internet similar to Shawn's (his a spoiler) so I have posted it.)

Time to head home :(

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Today is the last day of vacation and time to head home.  I got up early, got ready, and finished packing.  We had to leave the house by 10:30, drop the tux off at the stinky Men's Warehouse, drive an hour to the airport, return the rental car, and get all of our Sanford and Son luggage checked into the airport by 12:30 for our 2:30 flight.  I tried to get that piece of luggage as a carry-on but the lady nabbed it and made me check it in, however she didn't charge me, so I was thankful for that.  We ate lunch at the airport and had a burger and fries and then I had a big delicious cinnamon roll from Cinnabon.  We boarded the plane and headed home.

Once back in Owensboro we loaded the car up and went to my sister's.  I was really missing my nephew so we stopped by to visit them and mom came home.  I passed out the few souvenirs that I bought and enjoyed spending time with my little man.

This is the size plane we were one.  I was surprised at how big it was.

I love having a window seat when flying and taking pictures of the clouds.

Gavin LOVES his new gator cup with a big boy straw!

Uncle Shawn pushing Gavin in his caddy.  We bought that for
him for his 1st birthday and he LOVES riding in it!

I love this picture of Gavin!  He's laughing at Uncle Shawn playing his toy guitar in the next picture.

What a CRAZY day today has been!  I had decided that I was going to lay out by the pool the entire morning and just relax before it was time to get ready for the wedding.  Apparently Shawn had other plans and I was included in them.  He wanted to drive into Orlando and eat lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, then we had to go back to the Men's Warehouse AGAIN and exchange his shoes because in the all the chaos of the previous visits, they gave him the wrong size shoes, and then we had to drive back home to start getting ready for the wedding.  All of this had to be done in a 3 hour window.  We were definitely pressed for time to say the least and I think I was most aggravated because all I wanted to do was lay out by the pool and enjoy the last day of my vacation.  All in all everything got accomplished.

The Cheesecake Factory was GOOD.  I have never in my life been in a restaurant with a 20+ page menu to have to choose from.  And being pressed for time didn't help any.  The food was good and the desserts were even better.  Shawn had the pineapple upside down cheesecake and I can't remember what mine was called, but it was filled with gooey chocolate cake, brownie, chocolate coconut creme cheesecake, and german chocolate icing - all of that was layered twice and then had chocolate icing on the edges and served with whipped cream.  It was SINFUL!

We got the church at 3:30 for pictures and a beautiful wedding.  The bride was stunning and the groom quite handsome.  Everyone looked great!  After the wedding we drove out to the country club for a reception of more good food, good times, and crazy dancing!

Congrats Dan and Jamie!  I pray that God continues to bless you and wish you many happy years together!  Thank you for allowing Shawn and I to be a part of your special day!  We love you guys!

Golfing, shopping, and rehearsing...all in that order!

Today Shawn golfed with Dan, Brian, and Brother Heard all morning/afternoon.  I drove him there because they planned on playing 36 holes of golf and I didn't want to be stuck at the house all day.  So after I dropped him off, I went and had breakfast and then went back to the house and lounged around the pool all morning.  Then I got ready and went into town and did some shopping.  I picked up a new camera bag and some souvenirs at a souvenir store and then I went to this gigantic indoor flea market.  I think it was like 4 or 5 buildings big.  Seemed like every time I finished one building, I realized there was another one and another one.  At one point, I even got lost inside one and couldn't figure out which one I was supposed to go to next or even where my car was parked.  LOL!!  That's how big it was!  I had my eye on a couple of purses, but nothing that really sparked my fancy enough to get.

After that it was time to pick Shawn and the guys up.  They only ended up playing 27 holes because it was so hot outside and the course was moving slow because of so many people playing.  Shawn and I headed back to the house so he could get a shower and get ready and then it was time to head to Auburndale for Dan and Jamie's rehearsal dinner.

At the rehearsal, we ate dinner first and then they did the rehearsal.  We had a delicious meal of salad, mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing, green bean casserole, mac and cheese, ham, turkey, and yummy desserts.  We were definitely fed good there!  We had a good time fellowshipping with everyone and got the rehearsal underway.

There's a gator out there!

Thursday, September 9

Today Shawn got up early and golfed with Dan, and I layed out at the pool for a few hours and then got ready so that when Shawn got home we could go to Gatorland.  What a fun place to go!  When I first saw the website for it, I thought it would be fun to go to.  But then it had such mixed reviews, some people liked it, some people didn't; I wasn't for sure what to expect.  I copied this from their website:  Gatorland is a one-of-a-kind, protected habitat for man and beast where adventures lurk around every corner! Internationally known as the Alligator Capital of the World, Gatorland's 110-acre theme park and nature conservatory is located in Central Florida at the head of the Florida Everglades. Once you have experienced Gatorland, it will be hard to believe that it began in 1949 as a roadside attraction!

We got there around 1:30 p.m. and they closed at 5:00 p.m., and we had plenty of time to see everything.  We did miss two of the three shows they offered, so I would definitely recommend going sooner than we did.  They also have a train that runs around the park, however the day we went, it was down for maintenance.  It was also very hot the day we went, however there was just enough shade from different exhibits and buildings to help keep the sun off of us at times.  We also did the swamp walk.  While it was interesting to be walking through a swamp area, and they had lots of educational information about it, it was also HOT!

There was thousands of alligators and crocodiles, a breeding marsh with boardwalk and observation tower, reptilian shows, aviary, petting zoo, swamp walk, gator wrestling, a splash park, educational programs and much, much more.  I would definitely recommend going here if you are in the Orlando/Kissimmee area.

After we left Gatorland, we went to a flea market and walked around.  Shawn got a couple little things, but there was nothing there that sparked my fancy.  I was mainly looking for a new purse and couldn't find one.  After we left the flea market, we went to a few other little stores to look and then headed to Sonny's BBQ for supper.  Sonny's is definitely a great place to eat.  I remember eating at one down in Sarasota quite a few years ago when I went down there with my friends mom for vacation one year.
